Newville Race Recap

Tue Aug 28, 2007 8:57PM

Pa. Posse Roundup
Race Recap

Practice was hot and steamy, but as race time approached thunderstorms
were on the way. This didn't dampen the spirits of the 52 entries for
the RC Pro Dirt Oval Series' First Pa. Posse Roundup. After a near
miss by a serious thunderstorm after round one, the racers voted to
shorten qualifying to two rounds. The mains were awesome.

2007 Dirt Oval Finals

Tue Aug 28, 2007 8:26PM

This years dirt Oval Finals will be at SS speedway in Tampa Florida. The date is October 20th & 21st. The flier will be posted following the last division race at Indy RC World September 9th. we have to wait for that race to be ran so we know which promotor option classes will be included at the Finals.
The base classes are:
Pro Nitro Sprint
Pro Latemodel (2wd)
Pro Truck
4WD Latemodel (nitro)
1/8 Latemodel

Like last year your points scored in your division race will be added to the points scored at the Finals to determine the National Championship in each class. Also like last year the Finals will be DOUBLE POINTS. Also even if you didn't race in a division event you can race at the finals.

The Newville race is completed and the results are HERE. I'll have a writeup and pics later this week once Dell gets home. It sounds like they missed the rain that was in the area and got the mains in.

Big Bill's Bash

All I can say is WoW…………

With interference from an uncooperative Mother (nature) Big Bill and
the guys stepped up and Got Er Done!  Awsome track design with a in
ground automatic pump combined with work by Bill and his crew,
including Eugene Ryder got cars on the track by 6pm after 2" of rain
in two days including 1" 2hrs before our start time. With everything
considered we had an excellent turn out of experienced veterans, new
racers, and one back from a two year retirement.  Chad Smith of
Dynotech came in from Indiana. NSCS racers James Hunt and Scott Butts
came up from Tulsa. It looked like most of Monee was there and Todd
Johnson came back to race with us after a two year lay off. Eleven
years young Coale Dolbert was back this year taking over dad Dans' Pro
truck, and young Kyle Antonovich, son of Nick, also made his first Pro
Truck appearance. I am seeing more fathers and sons this year. Lets
keep it up…….new racers are our future. I got calls from some
Tennessee racers that were coming up, but I guess the weather stopped
them in route. We still had more entries than last year. Good job!
The racing was awesome. Scotty, Mason, Sonny, Mike, Nick……………… you
guys are super race directors, but young Emily Hilgendorf (Bill's
Daughter) was the best looking race director I have ever seen at a RC
Pro event. Along with her assistant (sorry I can't remember her name),
any time the ladies made an announcement….the guys listened.
I was afforded an opportunity to combine Pro Truck and Outlaw
Modified. This I did yet they raced for separate awards and points. I
am now convinced we can combine these two truck based classes next
year similar to the old SB EDM/Truck class. I want to keep this truck
based and keep it cost effective. This will give the experienced racer
on a budget  as well as our new racers a class that gives them some
freedom in the rules, controlled cost, and a class to have some fun
with.
In Outlaw Modified, Mark Krohn defeated TQ Jason Stewart with Tim
Bratcher finishing third.
In Pro Truck young Coale Dolbert beat TQ Brent Harms after Brent had
some bad luck mid race. Bob Warren went on to finish third followed by
Kyle Antonovich. Look out dad's . coale will be bumping dad Dan out of
his sprinter next, and Kyle will having Nick build him one of those
fire breathing latemodels.
TQ Joe Lewis went flag to flag in Pro Latemodel followed by Chad
Prince and Jesse Berry. It was too bad that Todd Johnson and Scott
Butts had to scratch their 2wd latemodels after difficulties in
practice.
In 1/8 Latemodel Nick Antonovich took off after TQ Paul Hood. The
longer Nick ran the faster and higher he got drifting that monster up
to the cushon. That all ended when he introduced his car to the wall
off turn two. Shortly after that Paul had difficulties and sentimental
favorite William "Big Bill" Hilgendorf went on to win.
After Chad prince and James Hood bumped up from the B the final main
was set………..and it was a good one. TQ Scott Butts took off with Chad
Smith close behind. The longer they ran the more Scotts' car pushed
but he had the rail and wasn't giving it up. With about 20sec. left
Chad used a lapped car as a pick and made a clean pass on Butts for
the lead and the win. Paul Hood was third, and dan Dolbert fourth.

During the rain delay I got a chance to share ideas with many of the
racers and thank them for their support. If I missed you I want to
publically thank you for supporting us with all we had to deal with. I
hope to see many of you in Florida in October for the National Finals.
If not……I will see you next year and it will be bigger still……….!
