West Race in Phoenix

The race at RC Sports Mania was delayed by rain. The report was several inches of rain fell in less than an hour. The plan as of last night was to run the event today starting at 7:00pm providing the weather holds out. I'll relay any reports I get.
Update!
They were able to get the race in on Sunday although it ran late due to a thunderstorm and lightning in the area. Waiting on the full report from Dell. I believe Billy Fisher won the Sprint class.

The very 1st RC Pro dirt Oval race is done! Below is a write up by Dell Lanier on the event.
The weather was HOT the cars were FAST and thanks to all the hard work of Allen Mendenhall and crew the track was AWESOME! The quantity of the cars was down but the Quality was at the top. This track is FAST and multi grooved. The racing was incredible. I believe I saw more slide jobs and crossovers than I did at my last WOO show.
Nitro Sprint was incredible. TQ Eugene Ryder lead from the start. On Lap four Mark Corns got by after several attempts and checked out. Eugene's engine didn't seem as crisp as it was in qualifying, and he drove hard to stay within a half a lap of mark until the end.
The show of the night was the Nitro Truck class.........YES, TRUCKS. A class usually associated with new racers, and lots of crashes was the race of the night. The increased side dam and spoilers on the trucks made them more stable, and they put on an AWESOME show. Several drivers attributed the increased stability of the trucks to the rule change. What was also amazing was that the .15 RTR engines seemed to be giving the .12 RACE Engines all they could handle.
It seemed like everyone was watching young 10 year old Coale Dolbert. After out qualifying dad Dan, at the flag Coale was on the button from his number three starting spot. After a tangle in the early laps he didn't give up, but his engine did on lap 17. If it had held together he would have been a factor at the finish. After bumping up from the B father Dan made a race of it at the end closing up to position two, however TQ Chris Shearburn led flag to Flag. In a few years Dan could lose his young teammate to a factory ride if he continues to put on shows like this.
Awesome track, Awesome Racing, and a good time was had by all. Hope to see more of you come out August 12 to Wiley's RC Speedway in Wellsville PA. for our RC Pro Oval Northeast Division Event.
